NALA Event Spaces
Booking terms
Last updated October 15, 2026
These terms apply when you book Montrose Studio, 3535 Venue or Nala’s Party Room on this website. You agree to them when you book and pay. “We” and “NALA” mean NALA Event Spaces and its related companies, including the companies that operate the venues, hold their licenses or own the buildings, and their owners, managers and staff. “You” means the person who books. The version of these terms shown when you book is the one that applies to your booking; if we change them later, the changes apply only to bookings made after that.
Booking and payment
- You pay the full price when you book. Your date is confirmed as soon as the payment goes through, and we email you a confirmation.
- The price is the hourly rate for the time you book, plus a flat cleaning fee and any add-ons you choose (the private parking lot at Montrose Studio, a security attendant). There are no per-guest fees and no required packages.
- If someone else booked the same time just before your payment went through, we refund your payment in full automatically and let you know.
- Bookings shorter than our 4-hour minimum are requests that our team reviews. When you send one, we place a hold for the full price on your card. If we approve it, we charge the card and email your confirmation. If we don’t, or if we haven’t decided within 7 days, the hold is released and you aren’t charged. Until we approve it, the date isn’t held for you.
- When you book, describe your event honestly: the kind of event, how many guests, and any activities or vendors. We review every booking, and we may contact you to ask more about your event.
Your booked time
- Your booked time includes setting up and cleaning up. Please arrive no earlier than your start time and leave the space by your end time.
- Your guest count may not go over the number you booked for, or the venue’s maximum: up to 80 guests at Montrose Studio and 3535 Venue, up to 40 at Nala’s Party Room.
Cancellations and refunds
If you cancel
| 90 or more days before your event date | Full refund |
| 14 to 89 days before | 50% refund |
| Fewer than 14 days before | No refund |
To cancel, email info@nalachicago.com. Your booking is cancelled once we confirm it by email. Refunds go back to the card you paid with.
If we cancel, with a full refund
We may cancel your booking before your event and refund you in full if:
- the activity you booked for isn’t allowed at the venue;
- what you tell us shows that your event would break these terms or the house rules;
- we contact you with questions about your event and you don’t answer within 24 hours;
- we ask you for event insurance (see below) and you don’t send it by the date we give you; or
- something outside our control makes the venue unusable (for example a power outage, flooding or a government order).
If we cancel, without a refund
We may cancel your booking without a refund if you gave us false or misleading information about your event, or if you break any of these terms or the house rules. We may also refuse future bookings from you. Missing event insurance is the one exception: it’s handled with a full refund, as described under Event insurance.
During your event
We may end your event at any time, without a refund, if:
- the event isn’t what you booked or told us about;
- it breaks these terms or the house rules;
- it puts people or the property at risk; or
- it causes unreasonable noise or disturbance for our neighbors.
If we end your event, you and your guests must leave when we ask.
Visits during your event
NALA staff, or security we send, may come into the venue at any time during your event to check that everything is safe and follows these terms. Visits don’t shorten or change your booked time.
Overtime
If your event runs past your booked end time, we charge 1.5 times the venue’s hourly rate for that day and time, for each 30 minutes or part of 30 minutes past your end time. We charge it to the card you booked with after your event and email you a receipt showing the times.
Time added on the day of your event, if the venue is free, is also charged at 1.5 times the venue’s hourly rate for that day and time.
Damage and extra cleaning
If the venue or anything in it is damaged, or the space needs cleaning beyond normal cleanup (for example confetti, glitter, large spills or trash left behind), we tell you within 72 hours after your event and send you photos. We then charge the actual cost of the repair, replacement or cleaning to the card you booked with, and send you the receipt or invoice for the cost.
House rules
- Private events only: events may not be open to the public, sell tickets or charge admission
- Don’t post the venue’s address publicly (for example on flyers or social media) without our written OK
- No smoking
- No confetti
- No fireworks, sparklers, smoke devices or any other pyrotechnics, indoors or outdoors
- No outside sound equipment: music is played only through the venue’s built-in speakers. DJs are welcome at Montrose Studio and 3535 Venue and connect to our speakers; DJs aren’t allowed at Nala’s Party Room
- No live performances
Breaking any of these three rules puts our business at risk: an event open to the public or with tickets or admission, a live performance, or outside sound equipment. Each one carries a $500 rule-violation fee, charged to the card you booked with, on top of any other charges. Breaking the fireworks rule means we cancel or end your event without a refund.
Your responsibilities
You’re responsible for your event and for the behavior of everyone at it, including your guests and any vendors you bring, from the time they arrive until they leave. You’re responsible for following the law and for getting any permits your event needs.
You agree to hold NALA harmless and to cover NALA (indemnify) for any claims, injuries, losses, damage, fines or costs, including reasonable legal fees, that come from your event or are caused by you, your guests or your vendors, except where caused by NALA’s own gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Event insurance
Every event must be covered by event liability insurance that names NALA as an additional insured. We may ask you for proof of insurance at any time before your event. If we ask and you don’t send proof by the date we give you, we may cancel your booking with a full refund.
Your saved card
When you book, our payment processor, Stripe, securely saves your card. You authorize NALA Event Spaces to charge it after your event only for overtime, damage, extra cleaning or a rule-violation fee as described above, and we email you a receipt for any such charge. We don’t place a hold or deposit on your card for these. If a charge doesn’t go through, you agree to pay it within 7 days of our email. We never see or store your full card number.
